Often times, I get very absorbed into the world of creating and shutter at the very thought of having to explain myself. It’s not something I like to do because I’m not great at expressing myself vocally. It never quite comes out how I need it to. During my last jurried critique with instructors, the question came up “What is the pattern you see repeating itself in your artwork?” Meaning WHO am I? All I could really come up with was that I like multiples. That was all… I didn’t know what else to say about my work. I create artwork much too passively, and I know it’s something I’ve got to work on! But like a little kid on the playground not wanting to leave, I refuse and will stop at nothing to have to avoid the inevitable moment when I have to sit down and write it down on paper.
Perhaps this summer will bring me to understand my creations further? I’ll have to make lots of objects I guess! That’s not a problem, though. Seeing as I’m currently unemployed with only two spring/summer courses.
Last week I joined a jewellery club that gets together on Wednesdays. They discuss objects they have created and progress they have made, as well as sharing tips and various other helpful information! Not to mention it’s a GREAT place to network with local artists <3 They’re all very wonderful people!
Below is the ring I shared with the group (I had nothing else with me! Thank goodness I brought SOMETHING to show off!) I created this ring originally in 2nd year for the hollow construction project.
16Guage Brass sheet with granulation, and a pretty tiger’s eye agate perched on top!
